Prior to opening her law practice in Stoney Creek, Ontario in 1994, Mary articled in Toronto at Bennett, Best, Burn, Barristers & Solicitors. In 1992, she received her LL.B. from Osgoode Hall Law School, York University, Toronto, and was called to the bar in 1994. Mary obtained her B.A. (Hons.) in Economics from Queens University, Kingston, Ontario in 1984. In 2002, Mary's colleague and associate, Michele Glassford, B.A. (Hons.) LL.B. joined her in the practice.

Mary' general law practice has provided her with experience in real estate law, both residential and commercial matters (purchases, sales and mortgages), landlord and tenant law, family law (including, divorce, child adoptions, marriage contracts and separation agreements) small business law (purchases, sales and leases), incapacity law (powers of attorney),mental health law, wills, estates planning and administration. Mary is also a Notary Public in and for the Province of Ontario.

Mary is a member of the Hamilton Law Association, the Canadian Bar Association, and the Advocacy Centre for the Elderly. She was a member of the Legal Aid Ontario solicitor panel for individuals with mental health legal matters from 2001 to 2005.
